Get Motivated Today With These 4 Essential Pillars of Motivation

Summary:
As you read these words, just imagine if before you use any techniques or strategies for improving your motivation, you had 4 main pillars installed in your life that underpinned your motivation and enhanced your capacity to be motivated throughout your life. Read on to discover more.

Keywords:
motivation, motivated, motivational, motivator

Article Body:
I want to give you four wonderful pillars for motivation, four main themes to underpin a healthy sense of drive and inspiration.

- The first main pillar of motivation is to gain recognition from peers.

When soldiers in wartime give up their lives during combat, why do they do it? Is it because of patriotism, a belief in the cause they are fighting for, or a fear of court martial if they do otherwise? Perhaps all these things play a part, but extensive research has shown that what really motivates a soldier to fight well incombat is the desire for the respect of the person who is fighting right beside him. This is much more important than medals or other forms of public recognition. This is similar to what motivates salesmen on the floor of a car dealership, students in a classroom or a team of lawyers trying to win a case.

In the English Premier football league, all the players will tell you the best award that they want to receive is the acclaim of the others players and to receive the players player of the year award.

Think of ways that you can develop recognition from your peers to enhance your motivation. The apply them to your life.

- The second pillar of motivation is recognition from respected experts or authorities.

In my own life, I love the fact that the wonderful multi-selling author in the US has helped me, guided me and become my friend professionally and personally. I desperately wanted to earn his respect.

Has there been someone like that in your life? It is important to realise that a respected expert does not have to be someone who is known far and wide throughout the world. You are the one who establishes the qualifications, though very often people whom you find impressive will be equally impressive to others.

Once you've met such a person, or even if you have just seen them from a distance or perhaps read an article about them, stop hesitating and politely approach them and introduce yourself. Unless you happen to catch them at a particularly difficult moment, most successful people are eager to help others and to pass on what they've learned.

The great thing about establishing a relationship with a mentor is that you eventually come close to that person that you can sometimes hear them advising you when they are not actually around.

Think about how you can get recognition from a respected expert or authority. You can really stretch this concept to be good parents, local teachers, councillors as well as business people; interpret this in the best way for you.

- The third pillar of motivation is family.

Although the approval of peers and experts may be important to your career, in your life, nothing compares to the influence of your family.

Let me explain what I mean by this with an example of my own; when I had come off stage speaking at an event in Dublin last year, a man approached me and asked me for some advice on the best way to stop smoking, he knew that I was the author of The Secrets of Self-Hypnosis and wanted assistance. My immediate response was to ask him what his reasons were for wanting to stop smoking and he said the following to me:

"My wife is pregnant with our first child and I want to have more after that. I want to be able to enjoy playing and having fun with my children and I want to be a healthy influence on their lives too."

I spent some time talking to him about some specific techniques and strategies. I have not heard from that man, but I know that he was driven by his family and am sure of his success. Think about your wealth goals; so many of us want to be able to rpovide for our family and for them to have what they want.

So think about the ways in which you your fmaily can motivate you and get that lodged into your mind.

- The fourth pillar of motivation for today is something closely related to number three and that is sharing the wealth and wisdom for the good of your fellows.

To illustrate this pillar, I am going to mention a story I love about Andrew Carnegie, the Scottish immigrant who founded the United States Steel Company in the early nineteen hundreds. When Carnegie died, a yellow sheet of paper was found in his desk on which he had written a note to himself when he was in his twenties. This note illustrated the main purpose of his life. It read:

"I am going to spend the first half of my life accumulating money, and I am going to spend the last half of my life giving it all away."

During his lifetime, Carnegie's fortune was estimated a four hundred and fifty million dollars - the equivalent to four and a half billion dollars today. In addition to building Carnegie Hall in New York City, he founded libraries in hundreds of small towns all across America and participated in dozens of other philanthropic activities as well.

When we look at these found pillars of motivation, what do you really see? The thing that I immediately notice is that they all involve other people, whether they are peers, mentors, family members, or simply fellows of the human race. Ironic isn't it? To be successfully motivated you need this very internal, very unique thing called your motivation. To acquire that innermost quality and set it to work, you need to recognise other people as reasons to believe.

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the 'push' to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend's tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z…

A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do.

C – Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D – Don't give up and don't give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel.

E – Enjoy. Work as if you don't need money. Dance as if nobody's watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you'll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F – Family and Friends – are life's greatest 'F' treasures. Don't loose sight of them.

G – Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert extra effort in doing things.

H – Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.

I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don't let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people – the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.

J – Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

K – keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.
L – Learn to love your self. Now isn't that easy?

M – Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.

N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.

O – Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways – how they want things to be, and how they should be.

P – Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.

Q – Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate – are you going to be a quitter? Or a winner?

R – Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get on their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn't raining when Noah build the ark.

S – Stop procrastinating.

T – Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.

U – Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second.

V – Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.

W – Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to believe is something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self improvement.

X – X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on "extras" on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.

Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence, because you're just going to spend it once.

Z – Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

Genius or Gifted?

Genius or Gifted?

Word Count:
525

Summary:
Everyone has particular skills and abilities. It is vital to develop them and use them to profit yourself and give something to the society. The question is: are you a talented person or there is a calling that makes you a genius?

Keywords:
genetic codes, necessary data

Article Body:
Every person has particular abilities or skills that make them different from the others. There are no similar genetic codes, so there are no completely alike people. Some of the abilities are placed in a genetic code and are to be developed during a lifetime. About our hidden abilities and talents we get to know in kinder garden or in elementary school. This is a regular way to discover yourself and your calling, but sometimes a person may find out that he or she is gifted in arts only being a teenager or even later.

This is not an anomalous case and there is nothing that can't prevent a person from developing necessary skills. After hard work one may be involved in dissertation writing, be recognized among colleagues and continue to develop, but the question is: is it a talent that has to be developed or it is your genius that made you famous? To distinguish between the terms "talented" or "gifted" and "genius", here are some simple statements about people of both types. A talented person seeks talent and develops it slowly but surely. A genius is born with an aim to work and discover in only one field and develops necessary skills very fast, absorbing knowledge like sponge absorbs water. A talented person can possess a lot of skills and have doubts on what to concentrate. A genius never has doubts about what he is destined to do in this world and does everything to move closer to a great discovery that is obligatory going to happen sooner or later. A talented person is remembered within the field of work and activity. A genius is recognized all over the world and after his or her death is honored by memorials and monuments. A talented person will use any help offered starting from solving problems and ending with dissertation help.

A genius never uses help from the outside, coming up with necessary data only from the books, articles or any other materials. Talented people live normal lives combining success with happy family life and entertainment. A genius forgets about all pleasures of living dedicating all his or her life to the calling. Usually geniuses are called psychologically disturbed, or just weird, they don't have much friend if have at all. All they think about is the aim he or she was born for. The field of work and activity is never first priority to a talented person, for a genius nothing else exists. This can be considered a full description of both kinds of people. What is it better to be: a genius or just a common talented guy? It is simple; destiny decides what you are to become in the future. Everyone long for happiness and that is something you can not touch, take or sense, therefore there are thousands of definitions. Someone may be happy receiving an eternal glory but being lonely till the rest of days, or have a family and fair business and never thing a word about world fame. Past is dark, future is mysteriously unknown, so let's leave in the present and create the future.

Article Body:
I'd like to write a few lines here to tell about a quite valuable concept that I read about while browsing a very educational website.  The concept I'm referring to is that of following your passion.  Let me start by saying that a person's passion will arouse and inspire him/her to put effective effort into action.  And the enthusiasm from this inspiration is in fact contagious.  It will vitally affect all with whom this persons comes into contact.  Your passion for something affects you in the same way steam can forcefully move a locomotive.  This is why the most successful leaders will make it a point to inspire moments of passion and enthusiasm in their followers.  When a person makes it a point to mix his/her passion into their work, no longer can it seem difficult or monotonous.  The passion will literally energize that person's entire mind and body so much so that he/she requires half the usual amount of sleep and will perform two to three times more effectively in a given period.  Passion is also the vital force that recharges people when they have become fatigued.  A person without passion is like a battery without electricity.  When a person is full of passion, you notice his/her dynamic personality. It's true that some people are born with natural enthusiasm while others simply don't seem to be able to find it within themselves.  However, it's really quite simple to to develop passionate enthusiasm.  Initially, you must employ yourself in doing the work you enjoy; preferably that which you enjoy most.  Then  you do something which most people never indulge themselves in doing:  set your sights on the really fun things that would make your ideal vacation feel like heaven.  When a person works at things about which he/she is passionate, there will be a natural reaction that gives that person more "inner-fuel" and resources to reach higher goals.  The combination of these things in anyone's life naturally creates an unmistakable enthusiasm in that person.  Start today, and pursue the things that fill you with passion, and you'll experience a different you.  After all, it's what you're meant to do.

I hope this information inspires you to find and follow your passion.

It would appear that many an eager beginning exerciser looses interest and stops an exercise plan within a month. In order to keep this phenomenon from happening to you, follow these five steps.

If you have been exercising for some time and find yourself bored and dreading your next work out, consider a change of environment. If you have been exercising in your basement, you may benefit tremendously from joining a gym where you can interact with other people and use different equipment.

Don't worry about not using your home equipment. It may be that once you have exercised at a gym for awhile, you'll be ready for another change and want to resume exercising at home.

If you are currently using a gym and find yourself not wanting to go in, it may be time to look at exercising at home. There is something to be said for finding the quiet and solitude exercising can bring when you're not in the middle of a crowded, noisy gym.

A second key for increasing motivation to exercise is in finding a way to listen to music that motivates you. For me personally, I use hip-hop, R & B, and rap. If you saw me in my SUV with kids in tow, you may not believe me. Just ask my husband; he's the one who programs all my music into the MP-3 player he got me for Valentine's Day off of ebay.

A third important key is to take a look at the clothing you wear when you exercise. Have you run more than 200 miles in a pair of shoes? If so, it's definitely time for a new pair. Also, make sure that what you wear to exercise is comfortable and non-restrictive.

In addition to the function of work-out clothing, appearance is important. If you have a great new pair of work-out pants, you may be more motivated to get up in the morning and go to the gym. If you're wearing the same T-shirt you've worn for twenty years, it may be time for a little shopping trip.

The shopping trip doesn't have to be expensive. A friend of mine buys her work-out gear at Goodwill. She always looks fabulous.

A fourth key is to keep focusing on the goals you have set for yourself. If you've reached your goals, it's time to set some new ones. Be sure to keep your goals realistic and measurable to prevent discouragement.

A fifth and final key to maintain or increase motivation to exercise is charting progress. Once you have an attainable goal, how will you know when you have moved one step closer? If you chart your progress, you will clearly see where you are and where you hope to go.

There are as many ways to work out as there are people who work out. Everyone's routine is different and tailored to them. However, if you remember to incorporate these five keys into your work out, you will experience success and be motivated to continue your program.

Fire Up Your Motivation

Fire Up Your Motivation

Summary:
Motivation seems to come and go, here today and gone tomorrow depending on what is going on in our life each day. The need to stay motivated is paramount to success, so let's get your motivation Fired UP!

Keywords:
motivation,hard work,winners,negative,dictionary,attaining,accomplishing,envision,vision,reward,gratifying,success

Article Body:
You should be able to find several indispensable facts about motivation in the following paragraphs. If there's at least one fact you didn't know before, imagine the difference it might make.

It's so difficult to go on when everything seems to fail, isn't it? Are there times in your life when you really want to call it "quits" because you just can't see any good results from all the hard work you've done?

Hold your horses!

Never ever think of giving up. Winners never quit and quitters never win. Take all negative words out of your mental dictionary and focus on the solutions with utmost conviction and patience. The battle is never lost until you've abandon your vision.

But what if you're really exhausted physically, mentally, and most of all emotionally? Here are some sources of motivation to prompt you in reaching the peak of accomplishment.

1) The Overwhelming Feeling of Attaining your Desired End

How would you feel after accomplishing your mission? Of course you will feel ecstatic. You might be shedding tears of joy. Let this tremendous feeling sink in and encourage you to persist despite all odds.

When I was studying for the Board Exams, I used this technique to motivate me. I would envision the sweetness of folks calling me a CPA. It would command respect. People will look up to me as a higher level of authority. And I would have better chances of finding a good job. I absorbed all these great perceptions into my inner being in order to achieve my ultimate goal.

2) The Reward System

How would you feel if you've entered a contest, but there are no prizes for the winners? It's not very encouraging, isn't it?

The same principles apply to your vision. Reward yourself after accomplishing a goal. Set a particular incentive for every objective.

Let's say if you've achieved a particular task, you'll treat yourself to your favorite restaurant. When you've finished a bigger task, you'll go on a vacation.

Got the idea?

Just set something gratifying to indulge in after completing a certain undertaking.

The best time to learn about motivation is before you're in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable motivation experience while it's still free.

3) The Powerful Force of Humanity

If you want to succeed, surround yourself with the right kind of people who will support and encourage you all the way.

Be with people who have the same beliefs and aspirations as yours. Positive aura is generated by this fusion of collective energy from people of "like minds."

On the contrary, being with people who oppose your ways of thinking may trigger a negative, yet very powerful, kind of motivation.

Has anyone ever said to you that "You'll never get anywhere" or "You're wasting your time with what you're doing?"

Didn't it made you furious and determined enough to prove to them how wrong they were? This is what I'm talking about.

When aggravated, you will do anything to make those who are against you swallow their words. But of course, your main focus should be on the accomplishment of your goal and not for the purpose of revenge. Never let your emotions toward others alter your main objective.

4) Take Care Of Your Health

Exercise regularly. Fill your brains with enough oxygen to allow you to do your daily tasks with more vigor and energy.

Take regular breaks if time allows. Having the will power to continue despite all hardships is extremely important, but you should still know your limits.

If you don't take enough rest, you will not be able to think clearly and you will not be able to do your tasks properly. In the process, you will just get more frustrated.

Take sufficient sleep and recharge yourself after a hard day's work. Never, ever ignore your health. I've learned my lesson when I sacrificed my health for the sake of success. I've worked very long hours everyday and just got minimal sleep. As a result, I became ill.

It's not worth it. Success won't matter if you don't have good health to enjoy it.

Fire up your motivation and live life to the fullest!

That's how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Fear of Driving and Automatic Negative Thoughts

Fear of Driving and Automatic Negative Thoughts

Article Body:
The fear of driving is often complicated, if not caused by, the individuals' automatic negative thoughts.  These thoughts can be scary and irrational, such as the concern that they will veer into oncoming traffic or drive off a bridge, or they may be centered on the person's physical feelings of anxiety such as a rapid heartbeat or dizziness.  These thoughts are often described as the most bothersome symptom of driving anxiety and they can be the actual triggers for panic attacks while driving.  Controlling these thoughts is critical to success in eliminating a driving phobia.
Thought Stopping
It is sometimes advised that the individual who has a fear of driving diligently try to stop their negative thoughts.  Although this is well intentioned and the goal certainly is to reduce the quantity of these bothersome thoughts, the technique is inherently flawed.  Requiring the individual to remember what not to think of infers that they have already thought it.  It is akin to telling them to not think of a blue banana.  The first thing they will think of is a blue banana because the very act of remembering what not to think of requires the thought that is intended to be avoided.  Methods of mentally visualizing a stop sign or snapping oneself with a rubber band to train the mind to no longer have the thoughts is unfortunately an often suggested technique that is not recommended.
Scheduled Worry Time
Worry time is setting aside specific periods of time through the day, typically morning and evening, to devote to letting these thoughts run their course.  For instance, a common thought associated with the fear of driving is that of being trapped and not being able to escape and losing control.  For this thought, the individual would force themselves to ruminate on the thought twice a day for a predefined period of time.  The intention is twofold.  First, the thought becomes less powerful as the person becomes disinterested in it after repeatedly playing out the scenario mentally.  Secondly, the technique teaches the person to be able to postpone their worrying until the designated time, which eventually may allow them to postpone the concern indefinitely.
We have seen moderate success with this approach for very isolated thoughts or specific driving fears.  For instance, if there is a particular bridge that is bothersome, but not bridges in general.  For the overall fear of driving, there are too many fearful thoughts to effectively use this technique for long term.  It also does not foster the acceptance and understanding of the fearful thoughts and sensations that is so critical for success.
Creative Visualization
The vast majority of those with irrational, compulsive, and scary thoughts associated with a fear of driving are highly intelligent and creative people.  Many of the bothersome thoughts they have are not based on historical evidence or fact (they have likely never responded in the manner they fear, yet the fear remains), and are created by their overactive creative imagination.  These abilities allow the phobic person to play out situations in the mind very convincingly and this realism helps to perpetuate the fear.  The Driving Fear program, which specialized in the treatment of driving phobias and anxiety has developed a technique which uses these creative skills to eliminate instead of perpetuate the bothersome thoughts.  It actually allows the same traits which created the fear to end the fear.

Fear Not

Fear Not

Word Count:

Summary:
You can learn to live with your fears, or, you can learn to live your life without any fear. This short but powerful article comes face to face with fears.

Keywords:
fear, afraid, afraid of death, afraid of love, afraid of the dark, afraid to ask, doubt, doubts, worry, worry free, worrying

Article Body:
Modern psychology today seems to suggest that living with fears is normal.  Some popular phrases are, "Accepting your fears", "Managing your fears", "Embracing your fears", or, "Coping with your fears."  But is that really the way the Creator intended us to live, with fear?

Fear will always limit you and keep you from being the person you really want to be.  Fear is destructive and it ruins lives.  Learning to live with your fears is not the answer.  Ignoring your fears is not the answer.  Getting rid of your fears is the answer and it is available.

If it is "normal" to live with fear why is it that not clearly spelled out to us in the Bible?  In fact, just the opposite is true.  Many times on the pages of Scripture you will find the phrase, "Fear not."  If it is normal to accept your fears, why would God instruct us to be abnormal by saying, "Fear not?"

Why does the Bible say, "I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears"?  If it were God's intention for us to embrace our fears why doesn't it say, "I sought the Lord and He helped me to embrace and accept all my fears"?

God never intended for His people to be defeated and full of fear.  He desires just the opposite, that we live a fulfilled life, an abundant life.  He wishes above all things that we prosper and be in health.  The Bible says that fear has torment and that is so true.

So many Christians are living needlessly with fears – all sorts of fears.  God can deliver you of any and every fear.  He can even deliver you from your deepest fear.  Jesus told a man whose daughter had just died, "Fear not, only believe!"  The man refused to fear and believed, and his daughter was raised back to life!  Why did Jesus tell him, "Fear not?"  Because fear will always keep you from believing and accepting the promises of God.  But when you believe the promises of God, you will see them come to pass in your life.

Are you tired of living with fear?  God can deliver you!  Ask God to help you and deliver you from all your fears.

This is where employee motivation is critical. It is the "bosses" responsibility to motivate employees which in turn will give them an overall better outlook on their job and will help them to strive to do their jobs to the best of their ability. One of the hardest and most important things that a boss can do is to keep good employees, not just manage them. Motivation is a key aspect in keeping employees happy and to creating a positive work environment.

The ways to motivate your employees will differ depending on who you ask, since there are so many viewpoints that are all different and the majority of the answers are right ones. A manager should realize that there are many ways that one can be motivated and be open to suggestions about how to do this. Since each person is different, then it makes sense that the ways in which each person is motivated will also differ. One mistake that is commonly made when trying to increase employee motivation is to "over-do" it. Do you give unearned praise to employees since this can lead to other employees feeling badly about their performance?

What does "Motivation" actually mean?

Some may think that motivation is a matter of giving gifts or verbal praise. Some may even think that a raise is a way of motivating employees. While these things are important, there is much more to motivation. There are several ways to motivate an employee that is genuine and deserved. Giving an employee a pack on the back, or mentioning their achievements in a memo or letter are good ways to motivate. The key is to know your employees well enough to give them what they really want. It could be time off, a vacation, a raise or even just some praise.

Ultimately, these kinds of things will result in a better quality of work from your employees as well as a better relationship between you and the employee. Not to mention a better outlook on the job through the eyes of the employee himself. All of these things will also lead to better customer relationships, since a happy employee tends to make a customer feel more welcome and appreciated. This will lead to higher sales, which is the ultimate goal in any business

How does motivation help people?

A person can benefit from motivation in so many ways. Motivation will help to achieve personal goals or perhaps even goal sets by you the manager. There are times when goals can seem unattainable. This is when the right employee motivation can make all the difference since it is likely to give the employee that extra boost of confidence. This will also help them to push through a tough time and continue to work hard to attain their goals.

Gaining a more positive outlook on the task or job is a direct outcome of the right employee motivation. This will be a critical step in your business since it will make your customers happy as well. This sounds like an easy thing to do, however when your employees are not happy, it shows. Motivating employees to see the good in the work that they do everyday and to see how they are helping someone is a great way to make your employees and your customers gain a positive perspective of your business. If your company is stuck in a "rut" it may be time for a change. Perhaps a change in the scenery or a change in the way the entire business is run. Who will have better ideas on how to achieve this than the people who work there everyday? Asking employees for their input is another way to motivate employees. The power to change is a hard thing to grasp, however with the right motivation, your employees will likely become an active part in the process.

By handing down some well deserved motivation, you will increase self esteem in your employees and at the same time be making an important step for the betterment of your company.

With the right motivation employees will become more likely to motivate and help others. They will learn to manage their own development within the company. This will result in less work for you and better productivity from the employee.

What are some common reasons why we fail to motivate our employees?

There are times when motivation is needed but simply isn't given. This can be the result of management whom is not aware of the power of motivation, or even due to mangers who simply are absent from the workplace where the employees reside.

Often times we can not control the area in which we work, however inadequate equipment to complete a job creates a serious lack of motivation by employees. Just like you enjoy coming home to an inviting, clean, warm home, your employees want to come to a clean, inviting office. Updating equipment and creating an atmosphere in which your employees can thrive is an excellent way to motivate them, however it is one of the most commonly over looked ways to motivate.

Equity Theory And Employee Motivation

Article Body:
In business, the Equity Theory of employee motivation describes the relationship between how fairly an employee perceives he is treated and how hard he is motivated to work.  Peter Drucker, an author who specialized in economics, first proposed the link between Equity Theory and employee motivation.

The basic idea behind the Equity Theory is that workers, in an attempt to balance what they put in to their jobs and what they get from them, will unconsciously assign values to each of his various contributions.

In addition to their time, workers contribute their experience, their qualifications, and their capability in addition to their personal strengths such as acumen and ambition.  Money, of course, is the primary motivating outcome for an employee, but it is not the only, and in some cases not even the most important, factor.  Power and status are also prime motivators, as are flexibility, perquisites and variety.

According to the Equity Theory, the most highly motivated employee is the one who perceives his rewards are equal to his contributions.  If he feels that he is working and being rewarded at about the same rate as his peers, then he will judge that he is being treated fairly.

This doesn't mean that every manager should treat every employee identically, because every worker does not measure his contributions in the same way.  For example, flexible working hours might motivate a working mother even more than a pay raise.  Conversely, though an across-the-board wage increase may delight most employees, the highest producers may become less motivated if they perceive that they are not being rewarded for their ambition.  Research on Equity Theory and employee motivation has shown that, in general, over-rewarded employees will produce more and of a higher quality than will under-rewarded, less motivated employees.

Enhance Your Life By Having A Sense Of Purpose.

Enhance Your Life By Having A Sense Of Purpose.

Word Count:
650

Summary:
This article looks at what we mean by a sense of purpose and how to utilise this as a strategy to enhance life.

Keywords:
well being,  optimism, happiness, attitude, identity, achievement, exercise, hopeful, challenge, action, dreams, goals, confidence, self esteem,

Article Body:
Researchers believe that developing A SENSE OF PURPOSE is a strategy which can ENHANCE HEALTHY LIVING.The basis for their theory comes from studies carried out on 135 women in the age group 61-91.This groups EMOTIONAL and PHYSICAL WELL BEING were evaluated by rating two types of indicators.

HAPPINESS evoked by POSITIVE experiences and A SENSE OF PURPOSEand a high SELF ESTEEM and REWARDING RELATIONSHIPS.

Results indicated that those who had A SENSE OF PURPOSE also displayed better PHYSICAL FUNCTIONING ABILITY. They had a tendency to weigh less, had a lower level of inflammatory cytokines which increase the risk of arthritis, displayed evidence of better SLEEP PATTERNS, lower blood sugar levels and HDL levels(good cholesterol) was more apparent. In the group which only displayed HAPPINESS the benefit was only that of a lowered cholesterol level.

What is A SENSE OF PURPOSE? There are many definitions.

Having an influence over others in work, in your community, within a family setting, or on a wider basis.(OXFAM, HELP THE CHILDREN,  AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL.)

Being recognised and VALUED for your contribution. This also implies being VALUED by yourself!

Being RESPECTED by others.

Having A SENSE OF IDENTITY.

Recognising a sense of ACHIEVEMENT from what you do.

Having A PURPOSE helps to build CONFIDENCE and SELF ESTEEM.People who lack PURPOSE are often unhappy and lonely.
Examples of this could be the person who has retired from work. He may well have lots of time on his hands and be involved in a range of recreational activities but remain unfulfilled as there is no SENSE OF PURPOSE. Involvement in these pursuits simply helps to put in his day.

How often have you thought about what you would buy or the problems that may be solved by a lottery win? Yes, we have all dreamt about this and there is nothing wrong with having DREAMS .They can open up our minds to possibilities and sometimes lead us to pursuing GOALS and a course of ACTION in their pursuit.

Yet, how often do we hear about people who have had this stroke of luck and discoverthat their lives are not necessarily enhanced in any meaningful way by this, or are even worse of because of it. Headlines in local press have told us about the families who have broken up after winning money. People who have packed in their jobs and gone on shopping sprees and drinking binges. Men and women who long for the company of others who are not solely interested in them for what they get. The world in our eyes may be their oyster but what they may find diminished is a sense of CHALLENGE...

There is some truth in the saying that if you have to work hard for something you will appreciate it more.Sometimes the achievement itself is not the most rewarding aspect, but the process involved in its acquisition.

What provides someone with A SENSE OF PURPOSE will vary from person to person. For some it may simply be taking care of another close to them. Others may choose to travel, get involved in regular EXERCISE/HEALTHY EATING, doing college courses. The options are limitless. Which ever you choose, your commitment to this will also benefit you by keeping your MIND ACTIVE.
The chances are that he/she will also be more OPTIMISTIC and HOPEFUL as a person .Having something important to aim for encourages people to be less likely to give up when things go wrong and to look for any learning opportunity instead.
Having A SENSE OF PURPOSE tends to make people more involved in taking care of themselves. They will pay attention to their health. Involvement with other people means that they are less LONELY and that they also have other people around for support. Peers can also be useful for giving you feedback and helping you see things about yourself which may otherwise go unnoticed.

Enhance Wellness by Doing Something Different with NLP

Enhance Wellness by Doing Something Different with NLP

Summary:
"If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got." Sounds obvious doesn't it? Very true though and is a presupposition of NLP. How about putting some change into your life today with these amazing insightful and simple ideas for enhancing your wellness.

Keywords:
NLP, Wellness, Neuro Linguistic Programming

Article Body:
Many people would say that it is absolute madness to keep on doing the same thing, time after time, expecting to get a different result or for something different to happen.  Alternatively, many people, especially those in the personal development, NLP and wellness fields of varying natures, would describe it as intelligent to have a goal and be wonderfully flexible about how you go about achieving it.

It is this intelligent idea of enhancing wellness that I want to highlight today with NLP.

If what you're doing isn't working or increasing your wellness, do something else;

I was working with a corporate client recently and had been working with one of their senior managers using NLP and various other techniques. He had wanted his team to carry out a piece of project work in a certain way.  He said to me that he had told them again and again (12 times in total), but they still weren't doing what he wanted.  I pointed out that if he wanted them to change what they were doing, he might have to change what he was doing; I suggested that he be more flexible. Together, We explored some alternative approaches and things started to change.

If you are fed up with getting the same results to certain things over and over, with whatever it is that you are looking to change, use this notion to begin to disrupt your existing pattern. If you are just following the idea through in some way, by definition you are perceiving it differently and doing yourself lots of favours. You'll be increasing your wellness.

So, firstly, identify an area where you've been doing the same thing over and over hoping to get a different result. Or an area that you want to increase your wellness. It may relate to a behaviour, habit, circumstance or situation; just choose something that you want to change the outcome of.

Then secondly, clarify your goal, that is, clarify what you want to achieve. Do this by asking yourself what you want and how you will know when you have got it.

Thirdly, construct or create a list of the different approaches and behaviours you have tried already in order to achieve this goal or increased wellness. Or note down what it is that you are doing currently.

Finally and most simply, put together a nice list of some alternative behaviours you will use to achieve the goal and increase wellness. Enlist some help ifyou feel it would help. When you have compiled a good list (put stuff down on that list that may well not seem right for you, it is good to explore avenues that in the past made you feel uncomfortable from time to time). Then, of course, look at starting to do the things that are on your list; do them.

What I am wanting to get across here is the idea of being more bendy.

Your mind and your body really are a single system, so it follows that physical flexibility can often lead to greater mental flexibility.  There are certain activities which can greatly increase physical flexibility, including things like Yoga, Martial arts, Dancing,  Swimming and lots of other general forms of exercise.

Practicing any of these will increase your overall behavioural and mental flexibility and level of wellness.  In addition, find opportunities to break habitual patterns.  For instance, most mornings when I shave, I do it in a different way.  This requires me to stay aware and vary my patterns.  The more flexibility you have, the more flexibility you can bring to situations involving others. Often, when people are seeing me for reducing their weight, I might suggest that they look at the doing things like swapping their knife and fork hands around for a week.

So, go ahead and identify a habitual pattern and change it to enhance your wellness. Especially if it is something you are not entirely happy about.

Here is a list of some things that you can do to interrupt your existing patterns and increase your wellness, you can be as creative as you want with these things.

-Eat a food that you never usually eat

-Go for a walk at an early hour in the morning

-Watch a TV show you would never usually watch

-Take a different journey home from work

-Take a cold shower

-Answer your phone with the opposite hand to usual

-Laugh and smile for no reason

The sooner you start doing this, the more fun you'll have with it. Then often, the higher your increase in wellness. So many people I encounter, know all this stuff or read it and still don't do these things and wonder why they are not getting what they want. Do soemthing different today and you'll be amazed how your wellness rockets.

Energy Boosters

Energy Boosters

Summary:
Need some energy boosters? You may never know why you're tired, but there are things you can do right now to have more energy.

Keywords:
energy boosters, energy, fatigue

Article Body:
I needed to learn about energy boosters. Fatigue and a lack of energy have been problems for all my life. In an effort to find out why, I've asked doctors, read books, and finally decided that some questions just won't be answered in my lifetime.

Fortunately, I've also learned that even without discovering the root causes of my tiredness, there are things I can do to alleviate it. Below are some of energy boosters that have worked for me and others over the years. Try them to see which work best for you, and use more than one at a time if necessary.

<b>Ten Energy Boosters</b>

 1. Energetic music. Different types of music have different effects on us, but you can learn which are best for you by trial and error. Once you find the music that wakes you up, keep it ready. Keep a tape in your car, and a CD in the player at home.

 2. Sleep better. The research seems to show that as long as you get at least five hours of sleep, the quality is more important than the quantity. Try drinking something warm before bed, or relax with a simple meditation.

 3. Talk about something interesting. Have you ever seen a tired person start to talk about something they're passionate about, and suddenly "wake up." It's a powerful technique you can use for yourself. Have a few "favorite" subjects that get you going.

 4. Coffee. For some of us, caffeine makes us more tired when it's abused, but short-term, it can work wonders.

 5. Deep breathing. Several slow deep breaths help oxygenate the blood supply better, and especially seems to wake up the brain.

 6. Have an "energy drink." The verdict isn't in on most of them, but it's a cheap option to try. I seem to get something from the ones with Ginkgo Biloba in them.

 7. Move your body. Sometimes just getting up and washing the dishes, or walking around the house helps boost energy levels.

 8. Exercise. It's not a quick solution, but many people notice an increase in their energy level when they get regular aerobic exercise.

 9. Hot and cold shower. Try a minute of hot water, then a minute of cold, alternating for six minutes. This isn't for those with weak hearts, but it will wake you up. Incidentally, research shows that this also revs up the immune system.

 10. Get outside. Often, a little sunshine and fresh air can be very energizing.

Write down the techniques that work for you when you find them, to remind yourself to use them. Of course you should try to find the reasons for your tiredness or fatigue. You may have more luck than I. In the meantime, though, why not try a few of these enrgy boosters?

Employees - Money Is Not The Only Inspiration

How to inspire employees to perform better and continue retaining their loyalty with the company? Ask this question around and the first option may be given as to raise the pay.

Article Body:
How to inspire employees to perform better and continue retaining their loyalty with the company? Ask this question around and the first option may be given as to raise the pay. Is raising the salary the only method of inspiring employees? Let us look at some others that can make a difference.

The first thought of money and inspiration means that we subconsciously compare our employees to machines. Add more fuel, maintain and it will perform better but that is for machines. Humans are certainly not machines. If money was the main motivating factor, you would not find people working for humanitarian and non profit causes without any money in return.

So when we think about motivating employees, we have to first look at them as thinking emotional beings with aspirations, their personality contradictions, and all the pluses and minuses of a human being. How does a thank you change the mood, especially when it was not expected? Thanking can change the mood totally, because by thanking we are acknowledging the good work done by some one. That acknowledgment is a big reward. I appreciate the good work being done by you and I thank for all the help that you have been to me and the organization. Send such a note once a month or so and watch the performance sky rocket.

Sorry. Yes I agree that this is a advice repeated umpteen times in as many articles. But I am still writing this because we forget about it. Many times, in our frustration and anger, we tend to forget that our anger is being released on a third party. The worst part is that we forget to say sorry. Sometimes, rather than a plain sorry, we should call the employee and discuss about the problems we were facing that gave rise to our anger. Make him/her a partner in your agony and say sorry. You will get not only a satisfied employee but sometimes a good friend for life.

Employees are as human as bosses are. Once employees realize that bosses are people of high character they would automatically get motivated to work with the company and for the company. Motivating them becomes difficult when we are ourselves lacking in some appreciable human quality. The golden rule should be to make yourself worthy of respect and you will not only get co-operation but a team that works for you to achieve a common goal. Good Luck.

Dreams Are They Good Or Bad?

Dreams Are They Good Or Bad?

Word Count:
900

Summary:
We have all heard about nightmares, might have even had a couple of them, but what about the "Goodmares" are they good and useful to us? The "..mares" might not be but our dreams of what we want to do or who we want to be are.

Keywords:
Nightmare,dream,dream interpretation,dream system,dream interpretation,the power of a dream,premonition,power generator,power,driving force,success,success quote,dress for success,sigmund freud,freud

Article Body:
Dreams that you have at night are bad if they are "Nightmares", but the dreams you have that make you feel great and inspired – those are "Goodmares". So have you been have "Nightmares" or "Goodmares"? If you are feeling oppressed or depressed you are probably have the first one, but if you have good things going on you are probably have the second.

Some say that the first one could be a premonition of things to come or an evilness in the dreamer. But could it just be an inner talk going on within you that is allowing your mind to create these? I am not a psychologist, have never studied Sigmund Freud and really don't delve in that area. But I do feel that if you are relaxed and happy with your life, you are more likely to have "Goodmares".

I am not really here to talk about your "..mares" I am really here to talk to you about your Dreams, your Aspirations, your Desires and your Inspirations. One definition the dictionary has for Dream is:   "A condition or achievement that is longer for; an aspiration." That is what is important to you and to your future.

Only Children Or Younger People Dream

Remember when you used to Dream and let your imagination run wild, when you ran freely through a meadow or traveled to new places or conquered domains – became the King or Queen and ruled over the land. Maybe you dreamed of driving the new car you just saw on the showroom with Mom and Dad or living in the house you saw while driving somewhere with your parents. Those were the good days when you let your imagination run freely and life was grand. Sadly, the times that we Dreamed were mainly in our earlier years and as we grew up, the Dreaming seemed to become less relevant. In Junior High and High School you had different dreams to an extent, when you went to College or started you job you had dreams to some extent.

But then reality sets in and you became involved with your career or family or whatever came along and the dreams faded and faded and disappeared. Then your Dreams were replaced with what many call "reality" and it was time to "grow up and forget about the childish things" or maybe it was "what do you want to be when you grow up" question? Some of us have not completely "grown up" yet, we still have times when we dream or "fantasize" about better places and things. But we don't put action to it because we don't know how or we are afraid of failure or success or being laughed at by our "friends". Would true friends laugh at you or would they encourage you? Hummm, that could be food for thought.

Could there POWER in a dream?

The power of a dream is something you need to realize and grab onto. It is the dreamers such as Edison, Carver, Bell, Stanley, Ford, Trump, Gates, and many more who have had Dreams that propelled them to do what became great things. Their Dreams were the driving force that allowed them to keep "their nose to the grindstone" and accomplish great things.

There is such a power there that if harnessed, grabbed onto and acted up will allow you to move forward and off of the "treadmill" that you are on today. Dreams give you hope, they give you power and enthusiasm, a tunnel vision of focus to assist you to motivate you to drive you on an adventure of growth and realization about yourself that you might have buried deep and hidden away. They allow you to use your natural talents and learned talents to the max, if you will allow them to. They are the beginning of the whole process of becoming you were meant to be to accomplish what you were meant to accomplish.
"Those Without Dreams Work For Those With Dreams." Wealth Builders
We all have a destiny, we all have things that we can and should accomplish. To many times we let "life" get in the way and hold us back or hinder us to the point that we give up and believe what the rest of the world says. Get a job, work hard, retire and enjoy your "Golden Years" that is what we did (are doing). I've heard it explained very well more than once, "Work 40 hours a week for 40 years and retire with 40% of what you were used to living on!" It is called the 40/40/40 plan and that is the bill of goods we have been sold. Forget those dreams, forget those aspirations and all that childish junk – just do what the rest of us are doing.

It is time to break the bondage of fear of failure or fear of success, it is time to stop the negative inner talk and sit down, relax and let yourself dream again. Dream about your house, your car, your boat, your new lifestyle, your garden, your swimming pool, your whatever it is that you have felt you always desired and deserved. Write those dreams down each and everyone of them. Every time a dream comes alive in your mind – write it down and keep track of all of them. Because they are the first step to moving on with your life.

Don't Quash Exuberance

Don't Quash Exuberance

When we grow up to be adults we are socialized to believe that exuberance should be contained and managed. Along the way we get the exuberance knocked out of us. Exuberance, however, is not to be quashed, but celebrated and appreciated.

As children we are born exuberant. We don't mind letting everyone know when we are excited. We squeal, laugh and shout out our exuberance for all to hear. Unfortunately, we are told by adults to be quite and calm down. We are told that our behavior is embarrassing. When we grow up to be adults we are socialized to believe that exuberance should be contained and managed. Along the way we get the exuberance knocked out of us. Exuberance, however, is not to be quashed, but celebrated and appreciated.

According to Webster's Dictionary the meaning of exuberance is, "Unrestrained in enthusiasm or style." To be exuberant is not to hold back, but to allow the joy and happiness to flow. I believe it is the unrestrained part that adults don't appreciate. We want everything to be controlled and contained. In essence we want to hold ourselves back in favor of appearance.

Children on the other hand don't care what others think and possess the ability to experience pure joy without any editing. When shopping in my favorite market a child that discovered a pepperoni display amused me. He excitedly shouted to his father, "Hey dad here is some pepperoni. We can make pizza." He was dancing all around so excited about his discovery. His father rushed over and immediately told him to calm down and said, "Not everyone in the store needs to know that you want to make pizza." The child indeed calmed down, and I couldn't help but feel a little sad. Here is a child excited about the simple pleasure of discovery, but was quickly learning that wasn't appropriate.

The next time you find yourself or someone else being exuberant, resist the urge to quash the exuberance. Let the joy and happiness flow naturally. There is no need to control it or manage it. Really, give up caring what other people think. Life without exuberance isn't as fun or as joyful. So, let yourself go and be exuberant. Who knows? You just might become a role model for others.

Don’t Let the Outtakes Take You Out

Don't Let the Outtakes Take You Out

Word Count:
653

Summary:
One of my favourite things I like to watch is the bloopers and outtakes that are shown of mistakes made during the making of a movie. Most DVD's have a section of outtakes to be viewed, and often they will set me off laughing, especially when you know what was supposed to happen.

In one sense it seems strange to laugh at other people's mistakes, and yet we all do it, and our enjoyment is not usually of malicious intent. We laugh because we can all relate and identify how much part of being human such bloopers are!

We all make mistakes, and have many bloopers and outtakes in a lifetime. Some of them may be funny like movie bloopers, a stupid mistake and we are able to laugh at our selves. Other outtakes in life, however, are not funny, and are neither unforeseen nor self imposed. I am referring to the tragic turns of events that happen in life that can turn our life and routine around in a moment. Accidents, disaster, the death of a loved one happen unexpectedly, and can profoundly affect our lives. These are outtakes we would prefer not to happen or even replayed in life. Some of life's outtakes have the potential to embarrass, humiliate, hurt, or disappoint us and also can stop our hopes and dreams for ever.

Times of crisis and tragedy can not be prevented, but how you handle these outtakes will affect the rest of your life. There is always a choice in any crisis. We can choose to grieve, but cling on to hope and move forward, or choose to cling onto the past and become stuck there. We cannot choose our circumstances, but we do have a choice how we respond to them. We can succumb or overcome, and our choice will determine our future. When we drive a car our focus is the road ahead; if we spend all our time looking in the rearview mirror failure is more or less inevitable! The same is true in life, we will fail, or at best remain at a standstill if we keep looking back and focusing on the events behind us, reliving the past.

A young African-American girl was born to unwed impoverished teenagers, in the racially charged backwoods of Mississippi in the middle of the twentieth century. She was abused by male relatives, and became pregnant at age fourteen. This girl did not seem to have many choices about her future and its potential to turn around towards success. However, this girl determined that these devastating outtakes of her life would not predetermine her future. Despite her circumstances this girl learned how to succeed by working hard, being true to herself and communicating with compassion and honesty.

This woman's success story may seem like a fairy tale, for Oprah Winfrey is now one of the most well known and influential women in the world. However Oprah would acknowledge that her tragic childhood experiences have helped her remain true to her commitment to persevere and aim for excellence.

Oprah Winfrey is well known for her TV show, O magazine and book club, but also for the way she had explicitly described her own battles with depression, her weight and her relationships. She has made many connections between her past struggles and poor choices to the 'aha' moments that motivated her to take those experiences and learn from them, ultimately bringing her to a place more success and respect. Oprah chose to overcome, not to succumb.

Oprah is one of numerous examples of people who overcame the outtakes of their life and did not allow the odds to intimidate them. Just as actors learn from their mistakes and use them to improve their performance, so can we use our outtakes to improve our lives.
Don't let your outtakes 'take you out'; use them to take you forward.

Don't argue - Ask questions

Don't argue - Ask questions

If your goal is to reach a solution and create a win/win outcome, arguing isn't the route to take. Instead the best way to reach a collaborative conclusion is to ask questions.

As the saying goes "It takes two to tango." Well, it also takes two to argue. It is impossible to have an argument with someone if they don't participate. If your goal is to reach a solution and create a win/win outcome, arguing isn't the route to take. Instead the best way to reach a collaborative conclusion is to ask questions.

We are taught to ask questions in coaching so the other person can hear in their own words the solutions. In fact it is said that coaches do not ask questions so they can hear the answer, but so the client can hear the answer. Questions allow the person to take ownership and responsibility for the solution. Although there are times, when coaching a client, that I already know the answer. It is more powerful to allow my client to come to it on their own in their own words. The same works in an argument. If all you want to do is argue, questioning isn't likely to be helpful. If you want to co-create a solution questioning can assist in creating a solution that will be agreeable to both parties.

As an adjunct faculty member at a local University, I find that it is useless to argue or try to reason with students when talking with them about their grades. The student always begins the conversation believing I am wrong and they are right . . . the foundation to arguments. By asking simple questions such as "What do you think your grade should be?" or "If you were the professor how would you grade the paper?" the student begins to see the problem from a different perspective. Most of the time the conversation ends with the student accepting the grade or at least understanding why they earned it. Questioning allows them to work through the problem and think about it in a different way.

I find this process helpful anytime there is conflict. I found the process of asking questions to be extremely valuable when making a custom order at my local hardware store. I had followed the directions in the electrical department that advised me to take my custom order to the cashier and they would place the order, bill me and arrange for shipping. When I did that, the cashier was completely confused and called Gloria the head cashier over. Gloria proceeded to tell me that I was wrong and I would have to go to another department to place the order. I showed Gloria the instructions, but it was clear she wasn't interested. Instead of arguing with her, I started asking questions. I started with the most important one, "Gloria, how are we going to resolve this?" I stayed calm and focused on the goal to get the order placed. Gloria wasn't happy about helping me. However, in the end I got what I wanted without arguing about it. Questions helped Gloria and I stay focused without arguing.

Unless you just want to have a good argument, avoid defending your position and focus on asking questions. Questions take the heat out of the situation and allow both parties to view the problem from a different perspective. Even if you know the answer, the other person will be more open to the solution if they are allowed to discover it on her or his own.

Vera sought out counseling with me because her doctor advised her to discover the emotional causes of her chronic fatigue. Vera, a successful stockbroker, was in a loving 18-year marriage. On the surface, everything in her life was fine. She had enough money, friends, and a good relationship. Yet Vera awoke each morning battling fatigue and depression.

David sought my help because of chronic feelings of inner emptiness. David is very successful in his manufacturing business, has a good marriage and two adult children. Like Vera, everything seemed fine. Yet the feelings of inner emptiness drove David to overeat, overspend, and indulge in porno on the Internet.

While both Vera and David were successful in their careers, neither loved their work. They worked to make money, but their work had little meaning for them. Yet when they looked inside, neither could discover what did have meaning for them. Both reported that they had never experienced a sense of meaning in their adult lives, and that the emptiness and depression had been with them since adolescence.

As I worked with Vera and David, it became evident that each had made a decision early in their lives to shut down their feelings to avoid the deep pain of unbearable loneliness. Vera shut down because she was unable to tolerate the loneliness of her mother's behavior toward her. Her mother would say she loved Vera, but Vera never felt her love. Instead, she felt her mother energetically pulling at her, trying to suck the life out of her. As a very sensitive child, Vera could not tolerate this confusing experience, so she put her feelings in a box and decided to live out of her head instead of her gut.

David, also a very sensitive child, shut down because he was unable to tolerate the loneliness of being with two emotionally unavailable empty parents, and the loneliness of rejection from peers.

As adults, both Vera and David were still shut down from their feelings. They were still afraid of feeling the pain of loneliness – a feeling that is actually an everyday fact of life. Loneliness is present when your heart is closed or another's heart is closed, or when there is no one with whom to share love. Loneliness is the primary feeling when we want to connect with another and the other is unavailable. If you were completely open to your feelings, you would feel moments of loneliness throughout the day. However, most people never feel this feeling and are completely unaware of it, because the moment there is a twinge of emotional pain, they move instantly to various addictions and addictive behaviors, such as substances, activities, thoughts, shame and blame. Yet when we shut out pain, we also shut out joy and a passionate sense of purpose.

Pain and joy are in the same box. Vera and David could not discover what has meaning for them and what brings them joy while keeping a lid on their feelings. And the very act of keeping a lid on their feelings was creating their depression and inner emptiness.

Imagine that your feelings are a child within. If you ignore this child – by ignoring your feelings – this child feels abandoned. Our refusal to feel and take responsibility for our own pain is an inner abandonment and results in anxiety, depression, and/or inner emptiness.

It is our child within – our feeling self – that has the blueprint for what has meaning for us, for our passion and purpose. Each of us comes to this planet with a deep purpose to express, and when we don't express this purpose, we end up feeling empty and depressed. Yet we cannot discover this purpose when we keep a lid on our feelings.

Learning to manage the pain of loneliness is essential to discovering your passion and purpose. There is no way of managing loneliness without a deep and personal connection to a spiritual source of love and wisdom. We cannot manage loneliness from our mind alone.

You will find deep meaning in your life when you decide to open to and learn from your feelings of loneliness rather than continue to shut them down. And you will open to these feelings only when you do not feel alone inside due to experiencing the love and wisdom of your spiritual Guidance. Opening to Divine Love and opening to your feelings will bring you the fullness, joy, passion and purpose that are the yearnings of your soul.

Do Your Self-Realizations Quickly Fade?

As we grow, we do so in fits and starts, lurching forward then back, sometimes looking more like clowns than seekers.

Winston Churchill wrote: "Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on as though nothing has happened."

We humans, in searching for success and happiness, have several great loves. One is the love of discovering new things. New places... new people... new ideas... they fascinate us.

We also love finding new ways to solve problems. If we've been suffering the indignities and inconveniences of a long-standing problem, we have an unquenchable urge to find what's causing the discomfort and fix it.

Unfortunately, an equally strong drive within our psyche is the compulsion to keep things from changing.

We love variety and change, but we also love predictability. When things start shifting in our world, we get uncomfortable; uncertain; unsure what to do next.

So with our left foot we strike out to seek change, while at the same time our right foot drags along behind us, trying with all its might to remain planted in one spot.

Often, as Churchill points out, we unquestioningly follow that urge to maintain status quo. Why? Well, it's the same reason we continue to do anything automatically -- habit.

Then how do we break the grip of habit? How do we escape the gravity well of inertia?

It's the same way we change any habit.

First step: become acutely aware of what we're doing. No habit can operate properly when we draw back the curtains of inattention.

Have you had a realization about yourself or the way you live your life? Maybe you don't want to let it drift away and become lost to you, the same way countless realizations have done before.

Then make a big production of it. Fasten your attention on it. Roll it around in your mind, play with it and explore the implications.

Don't let old habits rob you of the treasure you've found.

And that's exactly how you can stop yourself from stumbling over a truth and then continuing on as though it never happened.

Do You Think Motivational Thoughts?

Do You Think Motivational Thoughts?

Word Count:
456

Summary:
Motivational thoughts should go beyond quotes or positive thinking cliches. Your thoughts should be specifically designed to motivate you. Here are some examples.

Keywords:
motivational thoughts, motivation, brainpower

Article Body:
What do motivational thoughts do? They help you take action. This isn't about positive thinking or motivating quotes. Those have their place in shaping your attitude and thinking. However, what motivates each of us is unique, so you need to have your own thoughts - those which are most effective at getting you going.

"In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity" - Albert Einstein

This is a decent quote, and it may help you look at the positive side of a situation, but what if it just doesn't get you excited? Then you need to apply a little brainpower to make the idea your own. You have to make it a truly motivational thought for YOU.

Motivational Thoughts Of Your Own

"Making it your own" means experimenting with a good thought until you find a way to use it in your own recipe for motivation. Suppose, for example, you're in a difficult situation and don't feel like dealing with it. As you sit there, you play around with the idea of opportunity coming from difficulty. Fortunately, you discover that it pulls you out of your slump to think about yourself in the future, explaining to a friend how you turned the difficult situation to your advantage.

This is how you create your own motivational thoughts. Now, it might be more motivating if you imagine yourself being interviewed someday about how you overcame this difficult time. The thoughts that work for you are the thoughts you need to be thinking.

Learn Your Motivations

Experiment and get to know how your mind works. I find that beyond just thinking a thought, if I explain it to someone, I get excited. That is my own self-motivation recipe. When I feel unmotivated about writing, for example, all I explain an idea I have for some article to my wife. By the time I am done, I'm very motivated to work.

You can get creative in your motivational experiments. Maybe thinking about being poor makes you get up and get to work. If so, that is a great motivational thought. If visual thoughts are more motivating than mental conversations, then use those. See pictures in your head that get you going. Perhaps when people say you can't do something, you do whatever it takes to prove them wrong. Then it might be motivational to think about them saying you can't.

When there is a truly uninspiring task you have to do, try promising yourself a reward for completion - make it one that really means something to you. Keep that thought in your mind to keep yourself motivated. A trip to the beach and even a simple bowl of ice cream may be some of your more powerful motivational thoughts.

Do I Need to Visualize to Manifest my Desires?

Do I Need to Visualize to Manifest my Desires?

Summary:
If it feels good, then use it. If it doesn't, then don't!

Keywords:
law, attraction, visualizing, manifest, desires, methods, 3-step, process, attention, energy, focus, wanted, unwanted, lists

Article Body:
You've heard me talk in previous articles about Deliberate attraction. The Law of Attraction is a powerful force that is operating in every moment, including this moment right now. Knowing that we all offer a vibration (vibe) in every moment, and that The Law of Attraction matches that vibration and brings us more of the same vibration (whether wanted, or unwanted), it is important for us to understand the significance of becoming deliberate about what it is that we are vibrationally offering. The more we learn to apply The Law of Attraction to our lives and tap into this powerful force, the more deliberate we learn to become as attractors. This speeds up the manifestation of our desires. And that brings us to the topic of this article. Is visualization needed to manifest our desires?

Let's begin by reviewing the 3-step formula for Deliberate Attraction:

1) I identify my desire (being as clear as I can).
2) I raise my vibration (by giving my desire attention).

3) I allow (by reducing my resistance to receiving my desire).

Often, people will tell me they have already identified their desires and typically made a huge list of what those desires are. I am frequently asked, "Michael, how come the Law of Attraction didn't manifest my desire?" When I ask them where that list is right now, two answers I usually get are: "Oh I don't have it anymore." And, "It's tucked away somewhere."

It is important to remember that The Law of Attraction is a 3-step process and not a 1-step process. The Law of Attraction states, "Whatever I give my attention, energy and focus to, I'll attract more of it, whether wanted or unwanted." After we have determined our desires, we need to give attention to those desires. This is why most people who build a list, and then tuck it away, never see the desires on that list manifest.

I like to teach the deliberate use of The Law of Attraction through words because words are a common denominator that we all share. We speak, hum, sing, read, write, paint and process words in every moment of our day. All words carry a vibration for the person who says them or thinks them. There are, however, different ways to give attention to your desires. Some people like to use words, through writing, or talking with others about their desires. Other people like to visualize, or use art forms like making collages. It is true that all of these ways will give attention to your desires and help to raise your vibration. However, it is also true that not all of these methods or tools will feel good to everyone using them. So, how do YOU determine if a method is the right one for you to use? It's easy.

If it feels good, then use it. If it doesn't, then don't!

That's all there is to it. To insist that someone needs to visualize in order to manifest their desires, when visualizing is a frustrating endeavour for that person, is opposing the purpose of using the tool in the first place! While that person is visualizing, their frustration would be creating a negative vibration instead of increasing their positive vibration even higher. The same goes for any of the methods or tools I've suggested in practicing the Law of Attraction. Use them only if they feel good to you.

To summarize, ask yourself this question when checking to see if visualization or any other method or tool is right for you. Do I feel good as I am using this method or tool? Is this method or tool helping me to offer a positive vibration? If the answer is yes then be assured that it is an effective tool for you to keep on using as you continue to manifest your desires.
